Salzburg Conference "Inclusive teaching programmes: Let's develop it together!"

On the 22nd and 23rd of October took place in Salzburg, the EASPD Annual Conference, “Inclusive teaching programmes: Let’s develop it together!”. It has undoubtedly been an opportune environment for discussions and attempts at finding answers to issues such as: Why do we not have yet inclusive education? Has inclusive education been theoretically defined? Which are the main barriers in society which make it difficult to have fully inclusive educational settings in Europe?

Parallel to the plenary sessions and keynote speakers, interactive workshops were organized. Among them, the EQF meets ECVET workshops focused on: how can individual learners benefit from ECVET; EQF/NQF and non-formal and informal learning; European Social Funding; Inclusive Education; practical workshop on how to sew and another one on the methodology of training the candidates for the Waiter Assistant position, etc.

One of the main conference conclusions pointed out was that the implementation of inclusive education entails political will. The willingness of decision makers to support the transition to an inclusive educational system is one of the key elements that could facilitate its realization. Political will must go hand in hand with a pedagogical will, by developing inclusive knowledge and skills among mainstream teachers.

In addition, you can find a calendar of important project events, including the project’s October 2015 Final Conference in Salzburg, Austria.

EQF meets ECVET Project Holds Fourth Partnership Meeting in Kaunas, Lithuania

EQF meets ECVET project partners met on April 9-10, 2015 in Kaunas, Lithuania to discuss the progress on project implementation.

The meeting, which was hosted by the Centre for Vocational Education and Research at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, allowed training  partners to work together to develop an optimized common version of the Assignment Model, as well as to discuss the testing and evaluation of the model in the context of national regulations and requirements. Meeting participants shared their experiences in developing learning outcome units and discussed challenges and opportunities they have faced.

Partners have also discussed the content of workshops that they will deliver as part of the upcoming October 2015 EASPD Conference in Salzburg, Austria,  entitled “Inclusive Teaching Programmes: Let’s develop it Together.” Project partners are expected to participate in a panel discussion and organize several workshops.

Project EQF meets ECVET at the Workshop Fair 2015 in Nuremberg!

On March 12-15, 2015, the annual Fair of German Workshops for Persons with Disabilities took place in Nuremberg. Parallel to presentations of different workshops in two big halls, a wide programme of lectures was offered. One of these lectures was given by Marion Bock (Chance B), Marlies Krumböhmer and Melanie Biertempfel (both working at the German project partner CLW). Together they presented the Project „EQF meets ECVET“.

In Germany many persons with disabilities are working in these workshops. Marion Bock talked about the content and the aims of the project. Mrs. Biertempfel reported what she had learned so far while working as a seamster at CLW. She also showed a lot of pictures showing her at work. Finally Mrs. Krumböhmer explained what the learning outcomes units she defined for the vocational training for seamsters look like. She also showed how one certificate can show different NQF levels learners might achieve for particular learning outcomes units.

Very often people with disabilities are not allowed to attend a vocational training and to obtain a qualification. That is because many people think that workers in workshops are not capable of receiving vocational education. Or that they do not want to learn such things.

However, we are convinced that people with disabilities have the right to get a vocational qualification. They can be successful in doing so if the content of the programmes is not too difficult. Achieveing this goal is the core aim of our project.

Invitation to last meeting of AIRE EQF2 for ALL project

On November 5th + 6th a project meeting of the LLP project AIRE EQF2 for ALL took place in Randers, Denmark. Marion Bock (Chance B Holding, AT), coordinator of "EQF meets ECVET", was invited to join this meeting.

In the former project AIRE a EQF level 3 VET program in the fields of renewable energies had been developed. Aim of the running project AIRE EQF 2 is to define learning outcomes at EQF levels 1 and 2. Marion Bock supported the AIRE project partners at this task and at structuring learning outcomes units.

Exchange between the partners from Denmark, Germany, Finland, France and Turkey was very intensive and interesting - and reinforced all to use the EQF as an instrument of inclusion!

Succesful third partner meeting in Florence, Italy!

During the third project meeting, which took place on 22nd, 23rd and 24th of October in Florence Italy, a lot of progress was made.

Representatives of national public authorities/bodies joined the meeting. Ms Francesca Viscardi from the Province of Florence was invited by the Italian partner. From Austria Ms Stephanie Mayer took part in the meeting on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Education and Women’s Affairs. Ms Mayer works in department II/7, Strategy and Quality Development in VET. Ms Kirsten Vollmer from BIBB, the Federal Institute for VET in Germany and Ms Urska Marentic from the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for VET CPI were also present. During this meeting the partners took the opportunity to learn as much as possible from the expertise of the national representatives. Enough time was provided to listen to their input on the national status of NQF and ECVET focussing on classification and accreditation, and discuss all possibilities for future collaboration and possible recognition of the non-formal learning.

First ideas on the Module for Assignment and Recognition of VET Units were presented and discussed with active participation of the national authorities/bodies. Their input for the Module turned out to be very constructive and important.

Therefore the consortium would like to thank Ms Mayer, Ms Marentic, Ms Viscardi and Ms Vollmer for their availability and willingness to travel to Florence and share their expertise in this complicated matter, as well as their commitment to further collaborate and share their knowledge and expertise.
